How to have a completely frictionless magnetic bearing?

There are many of these videos, but they all seem to have one end of the axle touching a plate.
I know the axle is a rounded ball and only fraction of it actually touches, but that is still open to friction.
Would I simply need to have magnetic couples on each end of the axle to keep it in place horizontally, or is it more complex than that?
(I can place mine in a vacuum if necessary)
